With more than 35 years of Professional Make Up industry experience you can be certain that my products reflect the true needs of the professional Make Up Artist. We are not a remote lab, detached from the day-to-day requirements of the professional but a working FX Lab providing prosthetic services to an entire industry. As a member of the Stage and Film Professional Make Up Artists Union, IATSE local 798 New York, for nearly 30 years you can be assured that we know the needs of the working professional artist.
. Having started make up with my father in the early 70’s, providing make up to the Fraternal order of Masons as a “Masker” my interest in make up and prosthetics specifically, grew farther than my father’s skills could offer. After studying everything I could find, reading every book and collecting every magazine I could collect, coupled with daily practice, I finally found a mentor in one of the top make up artists in New York, Dick Smith. Back in the 70’s there was no internet so Dick would correspond with his apprentices via the telephone and mail, sending out notes, critiques and formulas, as his followers would send him photos of their latest work. As the number of these people grew he later went on after retirement and published a course which is still available today. Back then as “graduates” we received no diploma but instead he would help us get a foothold within the industry. In my case one of the many ways he helped me was by sponsoring my membership into Local 798 and later we developed a few products together that are used widely today.
After about 20 years of working in the burgeoning Florida industry, much of it creditless “behind the scenes” work, I retired from the daily on-set work and devoted my efforts towards developing new and innovative products to help advance the industry and help others. Having been the first Head of Make up Services at Universal Studios in Florida I had the opportunity to develop products to suit very specific needs in the growing industry. While at Universal I was one of the earliest airbrush make up manufacturers making durable fixed foundations which were applied by air. The airbrush was almost unheard of for cosmetic use in the early 90’s and hardly ever used in the make up chair at the time. Today however, they have been widely parroted by many companies in the industry currently. Universal’s benchmark event, Halloween Horror Nights, would have been impossible without the airbrush. At Universal my products went on to make up the classic characters, Frankenstein, Wolman, Dracula and Beetlejuice for 20 more years.
Today my products are used on many feature films and television shows by many of the top make up artists in the industry. Zombies, aliens, androids and schools around the world rely on my products to realize their characters. We formulated AGPC to meet the needs of Universal Studios Florida in a hot humid climate. Their outdoor theme park venues required and Halloween Horror Nights Halloween event tested AGPC's durability and their actors required an easy removal at home. We developed a custom color for Frankenstein and supplied the make up for their classic characters for over 20 years Instead of just Universal my airbrush foundation (AGPC) is the choice of many top theme parks and haunts for their Halloween and seasonal events.
We are the top Bald Cap Maker in the world making thousands of bald caps every year. Back in 1984 I began making bald Caps for the renowned New York based make up artist Bob Kelly for his use in Saturday Night Live. Word spread within the industry about these wonerfull bald caps Bob was using and how they compared to the old "Chambers" bald cap. Soon Naimies in LA began carrying these and before long they were the preferred cap used by artists and schools around the country.
IN 2002 I developed a latex alternative called Water-Melon which makes latex free appliances that can be applied using just alcohol. No glues. Everything you can do with latex you can do with Water-Melon. You can slush it , foam it, gel it, spray it and stipple it onto the skin. It is translucent and takes on your own skin color - so no need for a foundation. We offer it in 2 grades of liquid, regular and soft, as well as bulk premade appliances and kits containing cosmetic alcohol and HemoGoblin blood. Since 2002 we have developed many ancillary products such as Gelling Agent, Tints and a Primer that allows Water-Melon to be used as an encapsulent for silicone gel appliances by bonding it to silicone gel.
